Folio & charges
Audience: Front desk / owner
Objective: Understand how the guest bill accumulates so you post charges correctly.
What it is
A folio is the guest’s ledger for a stay. It holds room charges and additional lines (extras, POS posts, F&B charge-to-room, notes). Checkout settles the folio and produces a GST invoice for lodging.
Why it exists in Opseno
Hotels need one place for “what this guest owes” even when the shop and restaurant also serve them. Folio unifies the stay without forcing every sale to be lodging.
How it fits
| Source | Typical effect |
|---|---|
| Check-in / room nights | Room charge lines |
| Extra charge catalog | Manual add-ons |
| POS post-to-folio | Shop items on the stay |
| F&B settle → folio | Restaurant check on the stay |
| TorQ “add folio note” (approved) | Zero-amount note line |

Common misconceptions
- Folio ≠ only room rent - it is the full stay bill.
- Not every POS sale must hit a folio - stand-alone invoices remain available.
- Receipts stay English even if HK UI is Hindi.
