GST & tax
Audience: Owner / manager
Objective: Know where tax is configured and what guest invoices represent - without treating this as legal advice.
What it is
Opseno supports India GST end-to-end for hospitality and retail: tariff-aware room rates, F&B defaults, CGST/SGST/IGST splits, tax invoices, credit notes, and a GSTR-1 outward supply report (CSV). Jurisdictions also include AE/GENERIC for broader setups.
Lodging uses SAC 9963. From 22 Sep 2025, room value of supply ≤ ₹7,500 / unit / day is taxed at 5% without ITC (56th GST Council FAQ Q71). Higher tariffs use the 18% slab in product (confirm CBIC notifications for filing).
Why it exists
Indian SMB hotels and shops need tax-aware bills and return-ready summaries without a separate billing product.
Where you configure it
| Area | Path |

Important
- Documentation describes product behaviour, not tax filing advice.
- Verify rates and returns with your accountant.
- Guest-facing invoices and thermal receipts remain English.
- Opseno does not file returns on the GST portal.
